Today, 24th January 2018, Sven and Natasha were in court for sentencing. They were charged with “Conspiracy to Blackmail”, accused of attempting to close down a notorious animal testing laboratory in the UK, Huntingdon Life Sciences (HLS) – now rebranded Envigo.

Sven was given 5 years in prison. The support group will publish his address details as soon as he calls us from prison – most likely HMP Winchester but we will confirm this as soon as we know. Please prepare your letters of support for him.

Natasha was given 2 years in prison suspended for 2 years. This means she is not in prison now but will have conditions and if she breaks them, she will have to go inside. This was a very unexpected result and we are happy to know that tonight she will not be in a prison cell. We do not know her conditions yet – so we are cautious about publishing their statement until she has spoken to the legal team.

Von der Repression gegen den Kampf um Tierbefreiung lernen (Infotour Österreich)

Eine Genossin aus England wird, als Teil der Soligruppe für Sven und Natasha, eine kleine Infotour durch Österreich machen.

Eine Organisatorin aus der Stop Huntingdon Animal Cruelty (SHAC) Kampagne, die selbst, aufgrund ihrer Rolle im Kampf um die Schließung von Europas größtem Tierversuchslabor, Huntigdon Life

Science, 3 ½ Jahre im Gefängnis war, wird über die Geschichte, Taktiken und Repression gegen die Kampagne sprechen. Es wird über die Rolle des Staates, die Dringlichkeit der Solidarität und wie das Gelernte auf die heutigen sozialen Kämpfe angewendet werden kann reflektiert, um unsere Belastbarkeit und Effektivität zu stärken. Der Vortrag wird die aktuellsten Informationen über das gerade laufende SHAC Verfahren gegen Sven und Natasha beinhalten, die bei einer Verurteilung bis zu 14 Jahre Knast bekommen könnten.

Learning from Repression in the fight for Animal Liberation

An organiser from the Stop Huntingdon Animal Cruelty (SHAC) campaign who served 3.5 years in prison for their role in fighting to close Europe’s largest animal testing laboratory, Huntingdon Life Sciences, will discuss the history, tactics and repression of the campaign. They will reflect on the role of the state, importance of solidarity and how lessons learned can be applied to today’s social struggles to make us more resilient and effective. The talk will include the latest info on the ongoing SHAC case against Sven and Natasha, who are facing up to 14 years in prison.
